The purpose of this page is to provide to you, the visitor information about the processes involved in creating the forum. To start the ball rolling I will explain what made me create the pages.

I started gathering a whole pile of MIDI songs from various resources then I created a page with links to all of the MIDI songs. This made it easier for me to find a specific song. I then thought to myself, "Bugger this! Lets add more pages." I seperated the MIDI files between GM & XG formats and I then went on to create a seperate page for each. I then created a links page with varoius links to other sites related to MIDI. An index or main page was then created and this created a base for the whole website. Smaller pages such as the contacts page where then added.

On the code side

All of my source for these pages is freely available to obtain. No fees are required to obtain the code as I didn't waste any money writing the code. All of the code is what I call hobbyware and this means that the code was written in my freetime.

Below is a link which is a .zip file. It contains the source code for the pages. Picture / MIDI Files not included in archive.

  • Archived Source Code 10.2 KB

  • Some files re-named, this had to be done as it was causing an error on many links and it shows that the author can do stpid things such as placing two files wth the same name on the web server :-(
  • GM MIDI page has had no progress sorry (I mean it sincerely), if you desperately need a MIDI song send me an e-mail. :-(
  • 30th June 2004
  • Hooray 30 days later the GM MIDI page has been updated. Sorry about the wait but I have now built up energy and it was completed. :-)
  • Info page was revised and some links where taken off due to the source code pages not wanting to work for me. Downpoint is you will need an un-zipping program to view the code, sorry.
  • 3rd July 2004 MY BIRTHDAY !!!!!!!!!!!
    1st September 2004
  • All MIDI files where removed as they will be sorted into sub-categorys. A few still remain. I am thinking of devising a table format in which the original author of the MIDI file will be acknowledged and if possible provide his/her E-mail address. This could take a matter of days to complete :-), and :-(
  • Index page graphic of 'Scott's MIDI Forum' will be changed to a groovy JavaScript. (Wait till you see this one). :-)
  • Advertisements on index page have been removed. Regular visitors know what goes on.
  • 3rd November 2004
  • Well I am very sorry to say that it has been 2 months and 3 days and no progress has been made and the JavaScript did not work as I have intended so the idea will be ditched :-(
  • I finish exams in a few weeks so then I might get some work done :-)
  • My Christmas style index page was created and that theme has been pulled from the archives and put to work. I intend to upload it on 1st of December so watch this log and on 1st of December collumn it should say "Christmas index page was uploaded to the web server :-)"

  • My E-Mail has changed thus the links have been updated.
  • The year 2005 is a big year with lots of changes!!!
  • 24th February 2005
  • Unfortunately the message board was unable to be implemented due to server complications.
  • A random MIDI script has been implemented thus there is no more media center.
  • Some browsers seem to hang when loading the page and I think it is the media center that is doing it.
  • 17th May 2005
  • The changes above have now been implemented (Fnally) :-).
  • Hopefully the hang browser problem has been prevented.
  • An admin area has been implemented and special sections of the site are available from there.

  • Well it has been quite a while but we now have a message board system :-)
  • I now know that my page is Firefox friendly as I was using firefox with my website sometime ago
  • Hmmm. not much else to say
  • The cool little table things are now being used to divide up page sections. Much better isn't it?
  • 30th July 2005

  • Page layouts are in the process of being changed
  • 14th November 2005
  • Well, this year has gone quick!
  • This is the first update in 4 months, I have been busy but within a week things will become alot easier.
  • Once again the annual christmas page is up and running but as I said (what was it now) 12 months ago it will not be uploaded to the server until the 1st of December. This time I intend not to jump the gun.
  • All of the pages now feature yellow text instead of a mixture of colours. It has given the website some uniformity.
  • For now the updates column has been moved to the top of the index page as it is a special Christmas edition. In Janurary the main page will be changed back to how it used to be.
  • 1st December 2005

  • Merry Christmas!!!
